The UK's Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations allows you to recycle your old electrical products, free of charge.
In the UK, Government estimates show that we throw away over two million tonnes of electrical waste each year, mostly into landfill. Much of this waste can be recycled, and the resources recovered to make new consumer goods. The WEEE regulations aim to reduce the quantity of electrical and electronic items disposed of in this way, and will encourage everyone to play a part in protecting our environment for future generations.

Why recycle?
- Well, in our eyes, there’s no one answer, but the end goal is always positive. Recycling and reusing unwanted electrical or electronics can help save the planet, it also boosts the economy and improves lives. What’s more, electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) contains materials, parts and substances which can be dangerous to the environment and harmful to human health if not disposed of correctly.
- In case you didn’t already know, electrical and electronic equipment is now the fastest growing waste stream in the UK and across the world. So, although we can’t eliminate the problem, we know that we can take extra steps to make a difference.

What can I recycle?
- Anything with a plug, battery or cable can be recycled or reused. The materials from recycled electricals can be used in everything from children’s playgrounds to lifesaving equipment, while donated tech can help bridge the digital divide.
- Tip: you can find the symbol below on all your electrical items. It is a reminder to recycle your old electricals, rather than binning them.
Reducing Waste Electricals
- As part of our commitment to reducing the amount of unwanted electrical waste being incinerated or sent to landfill sites. Together we can stop precious resources from being lost forever, save lives and help protect the planet.
- Every year, the UK collects, reuses and recycles thousands of tonnes of old electrical and electronic equipment.
- We will take all your old electricals to a recycling plant so that they can be processed, separated into individual materials, and turned into new, more useful things.
